CMUL ALUMNI CLASS OF ’76 CELEBRATES GOLDEN JUBILEE, DONATES LED SCREEN TO ALMA MATER
The College of Medicine, University of Lagos (CMUL) Alumni Class of ’76 on Friday, April 10, 2026, gathered from near and far to commemorate their 50th post-graduation anniversary — a remarkable golden milestone.
As part of activities marking the celebration, the alumni paid a courtesy visit to the College Management and commissioned an LED screen in the Old Great Hall, which they had earlier donated to support institutional activities.
Speaking on behalf of the class, Dr. Kunle Hassan — who also serves as the Chairman, CMUL Court of Governors — expressed deep delight at returning to their alma mater five decades after graduation.
He commended the College Management for sustaining the high academic standards for which the institution is renowned, while also highlighting the enduring culture of excellence and strong sense of camaraderie among staff and students.
The Deputy Provost, Professor D.O. Odebiyi, who represented the Provost, warmly received the distinguished alumni and expressed appreciation for their decision to reconnect and celebrate such a significant milestone together.
He further commended the class for their generous donation of the LED screen, noting that it would significantly reduce the financial burden previously incurred in renting audiovisual equipment for College events.
Professor Odebiyi also emphasized the vital role alumni play in the growth, development, and sustainability of academic institutions, encouraging the Class of ’76 to continue supporting their alma mater in meaningful ways.
The visit concluded with a guided tour of the College campus and a group photograph with members of the Management team — a symbolic reflection of legacy, impact, and enduring connection.
The golden jubilee celebration continued on Saturday with a get-together organized by members of the set, creating an atmosphere for reminiscence, reconnection, and the strengthening of lifelong bonds.
Overall, the 50th post-graduation reunion not only celebrated the achievements of the alumni over the decades but also provided a platform to reflect on shared memories, lasting friendships, and their continued commitment to giving back to the institution that shaped their journey.
