CMUL and LUTH Management Undertake Inspection Visit to Students’ Hostels
The Management of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos (CMUL), in collaboration with the Management of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), undertook an inspection visit to the medical students’ hostels on Wednesday, February 3, 2026.
The visit was aimed at reviewing the LUTH-sponsored internet facility, a campus-wide initiative that has been successfully implemented to support students’ learning and academic activities.
During the visit, Mr. Bolu Kujero of BT Technologies guided the management team through the various locations, providing detailed explanations on the operational capacity of the internet project and its role in enhancing students’ access to digital resources.
Speaking during the visit, the President of the College of Medicine Students’ Association (COMPSSA), Mr. Apalowo, expressed sincere appreciation to the Management of Lagos University Teaching Hospital for providing the internet facility, noting that it would significantly enhance students’ learning experience.
The Provost, College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Professor Ademola Oremosu, on behalf of the College Management, staff, and students, expressed profound gratitude to the Management of Lagos University Teaching Hospital, particularly the Chief Medical Director, Professor Wasiu Adeyemo, for the laudable initiative.
He emphasized that the facility provides students with access to the internet beyond the classroom, thereby supporting both their welfare and academic experience. He further described the initiative as a model worthy of emulation and one that strengthens collaboration between the two institutions.
In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Professor Wasiu Adeyemo, highlighted that the campus-wide internet initiative has been successfully implemented and encouraged students to make responsible and productive use of the facility to maximize their learning opportunities.
Professor Adeyemo also acknowledged that the initiative is dear to Mrs. Iyabo Alima Ata, donor of the Alima Ata Cancer Centre, which she shared with the LUTH Management.
The provision of the internet facility underscores the strong collaboration and shared commitment between Lagos University Teaching Hospital and the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, to enhance students’ academic experience.Other members of the CMUL and LUTH Management present during the visit included the Deputy Provost, Professor Daniel Odebiyi; the College Secretary, Dr. Olayinka Obafemi-Moses; Deputy Chairmen, Medical Advisory Committee, Professor Teslim Bello and Professor Rufus Ojewola; the Acting Medical Librarian, Dr. Gladys Ibikunle; the Acting Director of Finance, Mrs. Mary Oyewusi; the Acting Director of Engineering Services, Mr. J. Oni; as well as other members of staff and students.
