MEDICAL AND DENTAL COUNCIL OF NIGERIA INDUCTS COLLEGE OF MEDICINE UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS GRADUATES INTO THE MEDICAL PROFESSION
The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria inducted a total of one hundred and sixty (160) medical students of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, into the medical profession on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, in the Old Great Hall of the College of Medicine. The inductees include one hundred and thirty-four (134) MB, BS, and twenty-six (26) BDS students. Delivering his welcome address, the Provost, Professor David Adewale Oke, FAMedS, on behalf of the management, staff, and students of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, welcomed everyone to the oath-taking ceremony. He congratulated and saluted the inductees for their perseverance during their course of study at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos.
The provost acknowledged the parents and guardians of the inductees and the Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Dr. T.A.S. Sanusi, for making time to conduct the oat-taking ceremony.Professor Oke expressed his confidence that with the quality of training acquired by the inductees, they are sure of surmounting any difficult terrain they encounter and will be able to make a positive impact in their chosen career path, and therefore, he charged them to explore new frontiers of knowledge and become distinguished medical practitioners.
The Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Dr. T.A.S. Sanusi, welcomed everyone and congratulated the inductees. He reminded them that the medical profession is a regulated one and therefore admonished the inductees to be mindful of their interaction with social media. Dr. Sanusi informed the graduands that Housemanship job is centralized and urged them to log on to the MDCN website to apply. He emphasized the code of conduct for medical practitioners and implored the new doctors to adhere to the rules and regulations governing the medical profession.
The climax of the event was the Oat-Taking and Affirmation ceremony conducted by the Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria to usher in the inductees into the medical profession. The induction ceremony also featured an induction lecture, which was delivered by Dr. Olayemi Dawodu, an alumna of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos and CEO of Clina Lancet Laboratories Nigeria, the sashing of the inductees, and the presentation of awards and prizes to the best graduating students. The College Secretary, Dr. Olayinka Obafemi-Moses FNIM, in his vote of thanks, congratulated the new doctors and their parents and wished them success in their careers.

Oloyede, Dean, faculty of clinical sciences, Professor Folasade Akinsola, Dean, faculty of Dental sciences, Professor O. daCosta, Dean, faculty of Basic Medical Sciences represented by Professor Abayomi Okanlawon, Sub Deans of Faculties, CMAC, LUTH, Professor O. Oluwole, Deputy College Secretary, Mr. O. Kayode-Owotutu FNIM, Professor F.E.A. Lesi, Professor O. Familoni, Professor Ademola Oremosu, Dr. O.B. Bankole, members of staff and students, and parents/guardians of the inductees.
