MEDILAG 77/82 ALUMNI SET REFURBISHES MAIN AUDITORIUM TAFAWA BALEWA PLAZA IN THE COLLEGE

The College of Medicine 77/82 Alumni Set formally handed over the newly renovated and refurbished Main Auditorium Lecture Theatre, Tafawa Balewa Plaza of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos.

Idi Araba on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, in fulfillment of an earlier promise made when the set visited the College of Medicine in 2022 as part of activities marking its 40th postgraduation anniversary.

In his address, the Provost, Professor David Oke, FAMedS, warmly welcomed everyone and reiterated that the Management of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, is working diligently to achieve the vision of the College as a world-class research-intensive Medical College and a Centre of global distinction in medical training. He added that the University of Lagos is Future-Ready to be among the top 100 University in global ranking.

Professor Oke, on behalf of members of Management, Staff and Students of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, expressed his profound appreciation to the Medilag 77/82 Alumni Set for giving back to their alma mater while acknowledging the CMUL Graduating Class of 1989, who initially renovated the auditorium on August 07, 2014.

The Chairman of the Medilag 77/82 Alumni Set, Professor Mobolaji Oludara, acknowledged everyone present and expressed the great delight of the entire members of the 77/82 set for the God given grace to be alive and instrumental in giving back to their alma mater.

Professor Oludara noted that the geographical distribution of members of the set is a testament to the greatness of the story and the project that the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, has established in the last six decades of its existence.

He further appreciated the entire members of the 77/82 set for deeming it fit to give back to their alma mater and charged other Alumni sets to equally rise to the occasion by emulating the modest works of their set by expanding the horizon of support through many projects on the ground in the College.

The renovated auditorium was officially commissioned by Olor’ogun Dr. Sunny Kuku, OFR, a former President of the University of Lagos Alumni Association (worldwide), who also appreciated the set and testified to the contribution of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, to the nation’s health care system.

The commissioning also featured the presentation of Award of Excellence, Certificate of Recognition and sashing of the 77/82 alumni set.

In attendance at the commissioning were the Deputy Provost, Professor O.A.T. Ebuehi, former Provost, Professor F.E.A. Lesi, College Secretary, Dr. O. A. Obafemi-Moses FNIM; Director of Finance, Dr. S. A. Akinade, FCA; Ag. Medical Librarian, Dr. N. B. Ukachi; Director of Engineering Services, Engr. O. Oloyede; Chairman, CMUL Alumni Association Caretaker Committee, Professor A. A. Oremosu; General Secretary, Dr. U. A. C. Okafor; Representative of the Director of Students’ Affairs, Dr. Femi Bankole; Deputy College Secretary, Mr. O. A. Kayode-Owotutu FNIM, members of the 77/82 Medilag Alumni Set, Staff, President, College of Medicine Pharmaceutical Sciences Students Association (COMPSSA, Ridwan Ajibade and Students of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos.
