Dr Ngozi Blessing Ukachi, is
a Reader Librarian/Associate Professor of Library and Information Science and,
presently heads the Medical Library, College of Medicine of the University of
Lagos. She obtained her Doctoral and Master’s degrees from the University of
Nigeria, Nsukka, and University of Ibadan, respectively. Dr Ukachi has had the
privilege of working in almost all the Sections in the Library and headed some
of them. She is highly knowledgeable and
versed in the area of technology adoption in libraries and information management.
Dr
Ngozi Ukachi, is the first Nigerian to win the prestigious Jay Jordan IFLA/
OCLC Early Career Development Fellowship award held in the USA in 2012. She is
a renowned researcher. This is evidenced in the Emerald Literati Award of
Excellence which she received in the year 2016, following the selection of one of
her publications as an award-winning paper by Emerald Publishers, United
Kingdom. She has also won several other international awards which include: the
Carnegie Corporations Fellowship Award in 2015 during which she was trained at the
University of Pretoria, South Africa; “Essay Competition Award“ organized by the
Academic and Research Section of IFLA in the year 2010 which she received in
Gothenburg, Sweden; etc.
She
is a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration; Member, the Nigerian
Institute of Management; Immediate Past Chairman of the Information Technology
(I.T.) Section of the Nigerian Library Association; a Past General Secretary of
Nigerian Library Association, Lagos State Chapter; a Certified Librarian; and a
member of several professional bodies. She is presently a Standing Committee
member of the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA).
Dr.
Ukachi, is passionate about training and disseminating information on trends
and current ICT skills necessary for effective information service delivery.
She has also published widely and presented papers locally and internationally
in various areas of Library and Information Science. Some of her research
