DR. ADEDEJI ADEFUYE, AN ALUMNUS AND EXECUTIVE OF THE COLLEGE OF MEDICINE NORTH AMERICA ALUMNI ASSOCIATION, PAYS A COURTESY VISIT TO HIS ALMA MATER
Dr. Adedeji Adefuye, a member of the 1984 College of Medicine, University of Lagos Alumni Set, and pioneer President of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos Alumni Association, North America Branch, paid a courtesy call on the Provost, Professor David Adewale A. Oke, FAMeds, and other Management staff on Thursday, July 6, 2023.
Dr. Adefuye gave a historical background to the formation of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos Alumni Association, North America Branch, and mentioned the concerted efforts being made to raise funds for the College of Medicine towards improving infrastructure. He also mentioned that the CMUL 60th Diamond Jubilee Fundraiser and Gala Night organized by the Association, which was held around the 29th Association of Nigerian Physicians in America (ANPA) Scientific Conference and Conventions on the 25th of June, 2023, was a remarkable success.
He highlighted the immense opportunities that abound outside the shores of Nigeria and suggested ways in which the college could benefit.
Dr. Adefuye acknowledged the former Provost of the College of Medicine, Professor Afolabi Lesi, for initiating the relationship between the College of Medicine and the North America Alumni Association and also lauded Mr. O. O. Babatunde for his selfless service to the College of Medicine Alumni Association and the North America Alumni Branch.
The Provost, Professor David Oke, thanked Dr. Adefuye for the visit and described the College of Medicine Alumni as great ambassadors who have distinguished themselves in their various endeavors, noting that Dr. Adefuye and four others pioneered the CMUL North America Alumni Association.
He informed the guest about the efforts being made to improve infrastructure and funding in the College of Medicine and also appreciated him for providing useful information on how to move the College of Medicine forward.
The highlight of the visit was the presentation of the Outstanding Leadership Award to the former Provost, Professor F.E.A. Lesi, which was received on his behalf by the Provost, Professor David Oke, and the Outstanding Service Award to Mr. O.O. Babatunde, while the Provost also presented the CMUL Recognition and Outstanding Award to Dr. Adefuye as one of the five (5) Alumni members selected by the CMUL North America Alumni Association to receive Awards at the Medilag Fundraising Dinner and Awards Nite held on December 22nd 2022 at the Civic Centre.
Dr. Adefuye later took a tour of the various ongoing projects in the College.
Present were the Deputy Provost, Professor O.A.T. Ebuehi; Director of Finance, Dr. S.A. Akinade; Ag. Medical Librarian, Dr. Blesing Ukachi; Director of Engineering Services, Engr. O. Oloyede; Deputy College Secretary, Mr. O. Kayode-owotutu; and Mr. E.O. Lewis.
