The Faculty of Dental Sciences, College of Medicine, University of Lagos (CMUL), is hosting its 18th Annual Scientific Conference and 8th Alumni Guest Lecture on July 8 and 9, 2026, bringing together dental professionals, academics, researchers, alumni, students, and other stakeholders to explore contemporary issues and emerging innovations in oral healthcare.

The conference is themed “Creating the Perfect Smile: Modern Possibilities in Tooth Alignment,” while the sub-theme, “The Snow White Complex: How Social Media Distorts the Perception of Natural Tooth Shade,” will examine the growing influence of social media on public perceptions of dental aesthetics and the implications for oral health practice.

The two-day programme begins with a Dental Outreach on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at St. Kizito Primary Healthcare Centre, Ojerinde Street, Mushin, from 9:00 a.m. The outreach reflects the Faculty’s commitment to community engagement by promoting oral health awareness and providing preventive dental services.

The Scientific Conference follows on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the Old Great Hall, College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Idi-Araba, commencing at 8:00 a.m. The programme will feature keynote presentations, guest lectures, and expert discussions on innovations in orthodontics, aesthetic dentistry, and other contemporary issues influencing dental education, research, and clinical practice.

The conference will feature Professor Iduh Amadin Ize-Iyamu, Chief Medical Director of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Edo State, as the keynote speaker, while Dr. Adeola Abolarinwa, CEO of Ridge Dental Clinic, will deliver the guest lecture.
