The United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) is an initiative that aligns institutions of Higher Education with the United Nations (UN) in supporting and contributing to the realisation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and mandates.
The Millennium Fellowship is a semester-long leadership development program initiated by the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) and Millennium Campus Network. Over 7,000 young leaders applied for the 2019 Millennium fellow from over 1200 campuses across 135 Nations. Out of the 1,092 selected Millennium fellows, a total of 21 students will be representing the College of Medicine University of Lagos. Also, the College of Medicine University of Lagos will host the fellowship for the first time since its inception.
On Wednesday, September 4 2019, the Millennium Fellows paid a courtesy visit to the Provost; Professor F.E.A. Lesi. They briefed him about the program and requested for logistic support in actualising their various projects.
The Provost, Professor F.E.A. Lesi, congratulated the students for making the College proud and commended them for taking up a research project on drug abuse. He enlightened them on the best approach to achieving a better result by seeking mentors who are specialist and are willing to assist in the field of study chosen. The Provost, therefore, advised them to be outstanding in their academics and be socially conscious to change their environment for the better.
