The Guiness book of record has awarded the “most authors on a Peer-reviewed academic paper” to the University of Birmingham and Edinburgh. The record was accomplished through the collaboration with international researchers including Prof. Ademuyiwa who is the Hub lead, National Institute of Health Research Global Surgery Unit (NIHR GSU), Nigeria as well as other researchers from the University of Lagos and other leading Universities across Nigeria. The research brought together 15,025 scientists from around the globe to investigate over 140,000 patients in 116 countries on the impact of COVID-19 on surgical patients.

Professor Adesoji Oludotun ADEMUYIWA is a Professor of Surgery at the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos. He is a Fellow of both the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS Paed.) and Medical College of Surgeons in Nigeria (FMCS Paed.). He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and was recently awarded postgraduate Doctor of Medicine (MD) by the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, one of few Surgeons to be so honoured. His areas of interest include gastroenterology surgery, surgical education and global surgery.  Prof Ademuyiwa is also an incisive medical researcher in the field of paediatric surgery with over 100 articles published in reputable peer-reviewed national and international journals having over 3,000 citations. He has a h-index of 20 and i-10 index of 34 on Google scholar. He is the Hub Lead for the National Institute of Health Research Global Surgery Unit (NIHR GSU), Nigeria. Currently, he is the Chief of Paediatric Gastroenterology and Colorectal Unit at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital and the Secretary of Pan-African Paediatric Surgical Association (PAPSA).
