On Tuesday, May 11, 2021, members of the Presidential Visitation Panel to the Federal Universities and Inter-University Centers visited the premises of the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos. The Chairman of the Visitation Panel to the University of Lagos, Retired General Martin Luther Agwai and his team were received by the Provost, Professor Adewale A. Oke and other Principal Officers of the College. This follows the Visitation Panel’s earlier visit to the main campus on Monday, May 10, 2021, having been received by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe FAS.The Federal Universities and Inter-University Centers Presidential Panel was inaugurated by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, on Monday, January 11, 2021. Their mandate is to evaluate the Vice Chancellors and Governing Council headship in all the Federal Universities in Nigeria; as well as performance check of the institutions in terms of financial management, condition of teaching, research and community service.
The Provost, Professor Oke welcomed the Chairman and members of the Panel to the “the University of First Choice and the Nation’s Pride”. The Provost gave a brief history of the establishment of the College of Medicine as an integral part of the University of Lagos. He also gave a summary of the organizational structure, as well as sources of revenue generation. He highlighted the challenges of infrastructural decay, power outage, shortage of staff among others.
The Chairman of the Panel, General Agwai, appreciated the reception accorded the Panel by the Provost and the Management team. He said that the Panel would work with the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos to achieve its terms of reference and craved the support of Management and members of staff.

After a group photograph and signing of the Visitor’s register, the Provost and other Principal Officers took the Visitation Team on an aerial tour to the Sir Okeowo donated Physiotherapy Building, Students Hostels and the Faculty of Dental Sciences.
The other Principal officers present are Professor O.A.T. Ebuehi (Deputy Provost), Mr Kayode-Owotutu (Deputy College Secretary, ASU) representing the College Secretary, Dr S.A. Akinade (Director of Finance), Engr. O.O. Oloyede (Director of Engineering Services) and Miss P. Anyawu representing the Acting Medical Librarian.
