The Induction Ceremony of the newly eight qualified Radiographers of the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos was held on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. 

The event which took place at the Board Room of the College was chaired by the Provost, Professor David Adewale Oke assisted by the Registrar/CEO, Professor Mark C. Okeji and other Principal Officers of the College.

In his address, the Provost congratulated the new graduate for successfully completing their course and wished them the best in their chosen career which he charged them to “Excel even in different circumstances”.

He however handed the inductees the nuggets of wisdom for achieving excellence in their profession as Radiographers which he enthused “To achieve excellence, you first need to develop the mindset that achieving excellence is a journey, not a destination”, adding that they must set goals in order to achieve excellence.

The Provost further highlighted the nuggets as follows: being passionate; improving themselves through proper training and education; work smart and wise; manage constraints; being able to sense an opportunity and being emotionally intelligent.

He also implored the new Radiographers to maintain integrity and trustfulness in the discharge of their duties as Radiographers and always endeavor to abide by the Code of Ethics and Rules of Conduct set out by the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN) and that they should practice with accountability and good judgement in the best interest of the patients, the society and their noble calling. 

Earlier, in his welcome address, the College Secretary, Dr. Olayinka Obafemi-Moses, FNIM congratulated the graduates for the successful completion of their course of study in the College, adding that they should count themselves privileged to be graduates of the University of Lagos being one of the First Class Universities in the world. He also congratulated the proud parents and appreciated them for their financial and moral supports to the graduating students.

He pointed out that the University of Lagos of which the College of Medicine is an integral part has a pedigree for training excellent graduates in all fields of human endeavor. He asserted that the University has the highest number of distinguished Academic and Non-Teaching Staff in the Country hence the newly inducted Radiographers have acquired the best training obtainable anywhere in the world. He advised them to be worthy ambassadors of the University and they should not forget their Alma Mata, the College. 

The highlight of the event was the Oath-taking Ceremony that was presided over by the Registrar/CEO, Professor Mark C. Okeji who enjoined the new Radiographers to abide by the ethics of the profession.
