He informed that NIHR is the largest funding body in the UK which has been responsible for funding of its unit and has been involved in cutting edge research.<\/p>\n\n<p>The Deputy Provost, Professor O.A.T. Ebuehi, who represented both the Vice-chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola FAS, and the Provost, Professor David Oke, FAMedS, in his goodwill message welcomed everyone present and expressed his appreciation to the NIHR Global Surgery Unit Nigeria Hub Director, Professor Adesoji Ademuyiwa.<\/p>\n\n<p>He noted that the Annual meeting presents opportunity of empowering the frontline surgeons to bring about the necessary change for their patients, while acknowledging the giant strides made by the NIHR Global Health Research Unit on Global surgery towards improving surgical outcomes through collaborative research which are evident in the Nigerian Hub projects.<\/p>\n\nThe 3 days event which began on Monday, September 11, 2023 through Wednesday, September 13, 2023 was declared opened by the Honorable Minister of Health and Social welfare Dr. Ali Pate, who was represented by Dr. Jimoh Olawale Salaudeen.\n\n<p>The 2023 NIHR Annual meeting was well attended by participants from across the world and also featured representatives of federal government agencies as well as other invited guests.<\/p>\n\n<p>The Global surgery Unit (GSU) coordinates a global network of surgeons and leads international surgical research to improve surgical outcomes for their patients. The GSU includes over 20,000 clinicians from over 100 countries and its aim is to improve the quality of life for billions of people around the world by creating the world\u2019s most
