The Provost, Professor F.E.A Lesi, and other Principal Officers of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos received the Alumni Class of 74-79 as they mark their 40th Reunion celebration.The celebration was a four-day event that started on Thursday 14th and ended on Saturday, 16th November 2019. On the 15th of November, 2019 the Alumni and their spouses visited its Alma Mater.
The Provost, on behalf of the Management, staff, and students, welcomed the Alumni and their spouses into College and expressed profound gratitude to the class of 74-79 for its selfless donations to the growth of medical education in the college. He recognized their contributions in the society and informed them that as key stakeholders in the College project, the legacies they left are still been emulated. He informed them that the University of Lagos is ranked 801-1000 in the world by Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking. He, therefore, urged them not to relent in assisting its institution and not to leave the funding of medical education to the Government alone. He also appreciated the reception he received from the Alumni in diaspora during the 25th Annual Convention of the Association of Nigerian Physicians in America, Washington D.C. USA, in June 2019.
The President of the CMUL Alumni Association, Hon. (Dr) Adeyeye, who was ably represented by the Secretary-General, Dr. U.A.C Okafor, expressed profound gratitude to the Alumni and encouraged them not to relent in their efforts to assist the College. He urged them to attend the 2nd Alumni High Table dinner, which will come up on the 1st February 2020. Also, the Chairman of the Class, Chief Dr. Bernard Aprioku, was full of appreciation to the Management for receiving them into the College that made them worthy professionals in the society. He hinted that the group would finalize at its Annual General Meeting an endowment fund of 10 million Naira, which will be managed by the College. The College Secretary Mr. O.A. Obafemi-Moses, FNIM, gave the vote of thanks. Mr. O.O Babatunde (Assistant Secretary Alumni) anchored the program.
Also, in attendance were Professor S.R.A. Akinbo (Deputy Provost, CMUL), Mr. S.A. Akinade (Director of Finance), Mr. N.I Sobande (Director of Engineering Services), Miss Abisola Ajayi (AMSUL President).
