PROFESSOR AYODEJI FEMI-PEARSE,OFR PASSES AWAY

The family of Professor Ayodeji Femi-Pearse, OFR has announced the sad demise of their father and patriarch, Professor Ayodeji Femi-Pearse, an Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) who passes away on Friday, December 28, 2018. He was 86 years old.

Professor Femi-Pearse started his medical career at the General Hospital, Lagos, served also meritoriously at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) and College of Medicine of the University of Lagos (CMUL) where he balanced his academic pursuits with medical practice.

He served as the Head of the Department of Medicine, the Provost of the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos from 1981 to 1984 and Chief Medical Director of LUTH. He has also served as the acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos during the University’s crisis of 1981. Professor Femi-Pearse was instrumental in the establishment of the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM). Between 1999 and 2003, Professor Femi-Pearse was the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council of the Lagos State University.

The Provost, Professor F.E.A.Lesi on behalf of the management, staff and students condole with the family of Professor Femi-Pearse for the death of the former Provost and renowned scholar.

His funeral arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.
