The CMUL Alumni Class of 1976/77’ Graduating set marked its 40th Anniversary Reunion with various activities lined up to include tour of College / LUTH facilities as the visitors were received by the Provost, Prof. F. T. Ogunsola and some members of Management Staff on Friday, August 12, 2016 at the Board Room of the College.
The members of the Alumni Class of 1976/77’ Graduating set led by Otunba (Dr.) Kunle Hassan and Professor O.Odukoya, Former CMD (LUTH) and immediate past Head, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology/Biology of the College embarked on a tour round the College and LUTH facilities as well as paying courtesy call on LUTH Management.
At a meeting with the Provost Professor F. T. Ogunsola, at the Board Room, the members of the CMUL Alumni Class of 1976/77 Graduating Set took time by introducing themselves to the College Management.
In his welcome address the College Secretary, Oladejo Azeez, Esq., expressed appreciation to the August Visitors for coming back to their alma mater, saying that College will wholeheartedly receive their contributions in whatever capacity they want to assist in the face of declining infrastructures.
In her address, the Provost, Prof. Ogunsola told the visitors that the College of Medicine has changed over the years but not in terms of better-improved infrastructures due to the decline in funding from the Government. She noted that in spite of the paucity of fund and its attendant effects on the infrastructures, the numbers of students and courses had increased without commensurate increase in the infrastructures and facilities.
She affirmed that in the prevailing circumstances, the College under her watch started to map out plan of reaching out to Friends and Associates with the creation of the Alumni Relations Office which had over the years engendered supports and hopefully build relationship and intensify efforts to bring the Alumni members of the College together, adding that the effort that has paid off as many sets of graduating class have been coming to embark on various projects in the College. According to her, despite the challenges faced by the College, the students have been foremost in terms of innovation and performance in their academic programme.
In his response the leader of the delegation, Otunba (Dr.) Kunle Hassan expressed the set’s appreciation to the Management for the warm reception accorded them and urged the College Management to organize Annual Alumni Week and Home Coming event that would enable all Alumni of the College to come together. According to him, such event will bring together all past students and afford them the opportunity to have necessary information on the needs and problems of the College and how to tackle them.
The event ended with a vote of thanks by the Deputy Provost, Professor S.R.A. Akinbo who congratulated the members of the 1976/77 Graduating Set on their 40th Anniversary celebration and reunion thanking God for sustaining their lives over the years.
